Our Chapter of retirees was established in 1985 by Margaret D'Arcy and Darvina Strobridge. We are EDFT retired teachers, administrators, nurses, and support personnel.

Our goals are:

• improve retirement benefits;
• keep informed of local, state, and national educational issues;
• maintain friendships;
• and plan social gatherings

As members of the retirees chapter, we receive the benefits of the MFT and AFT membership including publications, and we are welcome to attend EDFT social activities. We publish our own EDFT Retirees Directory.

Our meetings are held at the More L-Bow room in Roseville, MI on the third Wednesday of the month, four times a year--September, December, March and June unless otherwise noted. In the past, our meetings have included speakers from: Blue Cross Blue Shield Retirees Health Care, gemology, Tour of the Lightship and Light House in Port Huron, Tour of the Eastern Market and Churches of Detroit. We hold Christmas parties at various restaurants in the area with wonderful holiday entertainment. Our membership dues are $20.00 a year and are collected no later than November 1 of each year.
